Cheerleading Competition Divisions

 

 

Cheer/Dance Divisions:

 

All-Girl Varsity Cheer/Dance

Grades 9-12.

 

Co-Ed Varsity Cheer/Dance

Grades 9-12.1 or more males.Up to 36 members

Small- 1 to 4 males

Large- 5 males and over

 

All -Girl Varsity Cheer/Dance -Non-Tumbling

Co-Ed Varsity Cheer/Dance -Non-Tumbling

Grades 9-12.

NO TUMBLING PERMITTED

The Non-Tumbling divisions will prohibit all tumbling, except for inversions into or from load in positions, stunts and pyramids. Tumbling is defined as any skill with feet over head rotation.

A Penalty for performing skills out of category will be 2.5 points per occurrence.

 

 

Varsity Cheer/Dance -Non-Mount

Grades 9-12. (All -Girl/Co-Ed Combined)

NO BUILDING PERMITTED

The Non-Mount divisions will prohibit all building of stunts, pyramids, lifts.  Building is defined as one or more bases support on or more top persons off the performing surface. Pyramids are defined as connected partner stunts.

A Penalty for performing skills out of category will be 2.5 points per occurrence.

 

 

All-Girl Intermediate Varsity Cheer/Dance

Grades 9-12.

A Penalty for performing skills out of category will be 2.5 points per occurrence.

 

Co-Ed Intermediate Varsity Cheer/Dance

Grades 9-12.1 or more males.Up to 36 members

A Penalty for performing skills out of category will be 2.5 points per occurrence.

 

All Music Divisions:

 

All-Girl Varsity All Music

Grades 9-12.

 

Co-Ed Varsity All Music

Grades 9-12.1 or more males.

Small- 1 to 4 males

Large- 5 males and over

 

All-Girl Intermediate Varsity All Music

Grades 9-12.

Game Day Division:

Varsity - Game Day

Grades 9-12. All Girl and Coed Combined

Virtual Stunt Groups


In light of the COVID 19 pandemic and in an effort to provide all athletes the opportunity to compete, we have opted to include Stunt Groups for this year ONLY.

Important Information; Please Note:

  • Once registration is closed (March 1st) and the number of teams entered has been finalized, the size breakdown (small, medium, large, etc) for each division will be determined.  This will be based on the number of athletes on each team in that particular division.  The breakdown may vary per division. 
  • A list of divisions and the teams in each will be posted on the website by Sunday, March 7th. It will be updated should teams drop so keep checking back.
  • IMPORTANT! There must be at least three (3) teams in each division, or divisions MAY be combined (except Group Cheer Championships which may have 2 teams)
  • Due to the Covid 19 Pandemic we do not encourage crossovers.
  • Please note Rubrics for all Varsity, Co-ed, Non-tumbling, Game Day and Intermediate divisions are located on the FORMS page.
  • A Penalty for performing skills out of category will be 2.5 points per occurrence in the Intermediate, Game Day, Non- Mount and Non-Tumbling Divisions.

 

Team Eligibility:

  • All team members must be a full-time student within  the school district where they currently cheer/dance and compete or attend a magnet/technical/ choice school with the permission of that school district.

  • The district Athletic Director must certify that all competitors participating and competing in the state competition through NJCDCA are active students and covered under the district Board of Education’s (or like governing body’s) liability insurance.
  • Coaches must be able to certify that every student participating is a student in good academic standing.

    Seniors are permitted to participate on JV teams at the discretion of the coach.
